So, as always, be sure to shop around when looking for your next Waikiki hotel. It’s also worth noting that The Laylow tends to price lower than its oceanfront competitor, the Alohilani Resort. But, there are a ton of other options out there too, some of which are modern boutiques as well.
If you’re not a Marriott Bonvoy member, I’d still consider The Laylow Waikiki, so long as views from your room aren’t a top priority for you. Oh, and, unless the extra space really means that much to you, I’d skip the suites, as they aren’t worth the upcharge, in my opinion. Just remember, the hotel doesn’t really offer ocean view rooms, they do charge an insipid “Destination Fee,” they don’t have an actual Executive Lounge, and you probably won’t receive all your elite benefits. The mid-century Hawaii vibe is gorgeous and welcoming, while its location is convenient. And as a Marriott loyalist, it was a hotel I really wanted to check out. It’s also the newest Marriott in Hawaii, as well as the first Autograph Collection hotel on Oahu. The Laylow Waikiki is one of the newest hotels in Hawaii. If you’re married to the Marriott Bonvoy program and are looking for a modern boutique hotel experience in Waikiki, then look no further than The Laylow Waikiki. The Laylow Waikiki is one of the newest hotels in Hawaii, and is also one of my favorites. Weve got you covered, especially considering the current circums tances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Oahus first Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel was set to open on Kuhio. And, the final Waikiki boutique hotel, The Modern Honolulu, is pricing in at $239 with a $30/night resort fee and $35/night valet parking fee, for a total of $304/night before tax (must prepay). At The Laylow, Autograph Collection, we know that travel is an opportunity to p ursue your curiosity with condence and ease. Another independent option, the Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, is pricing at $343 with a $30/night self-parking fee for a total of $373/night before tax.
Hyatt’s boutique hotel, the Hyatt Centric Waikiki is pricing at $223 on those same dates with a $33/night resort fee and $42/night self-parking fee for a total of $298 per night before tax. On the other hand, the Alohilani Resort, which I view as a direct competitor to The Laylow, is charging a rate of $254 on the same dates along with a $45/night resort fee and $40/night self-parking fee, which equates to $339/night before tax. So, your before-tax total ends up being $345/night, which is still on the low side for this property. Prices for spring break (March 2020) looks like they’re hovering around the $265 mark, though you’ll need to add in a $35/night destination fee, and a $45/night parking fee. That said, The Laylow Waikiki tends to price on the high of the market as far as Waikiki boutique hotels go.
