Jul 7, 2014 - For example using the Catalyst 3650 or 3750 for your layer-3 switch. 15.x there are many features that only work on 2900 or larger routers. GNS3 is better in that it runs a real IOS image unfortunately I think it still does not support switches. You should have no issues all the way up to CCNP with the. I am a contractor, so cannot use my employer's service contract. 2.) GNS3, a network emulator lab tool, to study for the CCNP. 3.) GNS3 recommends the following router images: C3640, C3660, C3725, C3745. Due to its ability to only support really old Cisco IOS images. Check out Cisco's. GNS3 IOS Image Download. I have a 3550 but was thinking of getting a 3750 mainly cause I want to stack some 3750's(atleast 2), but of course i'll need to buy them one at a time over the course of a couple months as I'm tight on cash atm and am planning on buying a 2811 router(max mem/flash for $150). I just want the experience of stacking switches. But if I decide to go for 3560, that would be nice for private vlans. I'm just trying to upgrade my home lab for the new CCNP exams. Hmm, I probably should have put this in the CCNP section. IOS 15 will run on the 3750 or at least every one I've tried. Same for the 3560.
Cisco just doesn't officially support it as they want you to buy the newer 3560v2/3750v2, which is just a 'Green' 3560/3750 (Lower Power Consumption) or better (for Cisco) the 3850 (Cisco's newest Access Layer switches with built-in 802.11ac Wireless LAN Controller). Can you elaborate on this I have 3x Cisco 3750 48TS-S/PS Version 1 I have researched and like OfWolfAndMan mentioned only 3750G,V2 and X support IOS 15 but was silly to me when i looked at the Version 2 features and noticed it was more power efficient Has a Cisco 3750 V1 been successfully upgraded to IOS15 software even tho its not supported by Cisco? This would help me out alot in preparing for IE after my Tshoot exam.

This would help me out alot in preparing for IE after my Tshoot exam I could have sworn I'd upgraded a 3750 to 15. But, I just checked the 2 x WS-C3750-24TS-S in my lab at work and they only have 16 MB of Flash. The IOS 15 image I have is 16.4 MB, so it doesn't fit. I'll have to double check my other 3750 at home and my 3560s to see if they have enough flash, because I know I was able to upgrade at least one of them to 15.
Just checked Cisco.com and it appears the 3560-24/48TS has 32 MB of Flash. Strangely, the 3560-24/48PS (PoE Models) only have 16 MB. Most of the 3750s and about 1/3 of the 3750Gs are only 16 MB. The 3750-24FS has 32 MB, so it should be able to take IOS 15. I have one of these at home. 16 MB Flash (IOS 15 Won't Fit) - 3560-24PS 3560-48PS 3750G-12S 3750G-24T 3750G-24TS 3750G-24WS 3750-24PS 3750-24TS 3750-48PS 3750-48TS 3750G-16TD 32 MB Flash - 3560-8PC 3560-24TS 3560-48TS 3560G-24TS 3560G-24PS 3560G-48TS 3560G-48PS 3750-24FS 3750G-24PS 3750G-24TS-1U 3750G-24WS 3750G-48PS 3750G-48TS It looks like the 3750-24FS is the only 3750 that'll take IOS 15. The Non-PoE 3560s should also take IOS 15.

Completing NetSim labs and creating your own labs have never been so easy. Product Reviews Average Rating: (48) Authentication Problem 5/25/2016 12:25:50 AM - winston - dubai, AE Everytime I login my PC, I have to register netsim10. Best Simulator I've tried yet 4/13/2016 2:23:39 PM - Lori - Terrytown, LA US I tried the Sybex Simulator. What they supported worked OK, but they support so little. And there was no feed back to let you know you were wasting your time configuring things that were never going to work.
GNS3 was free but weird enough that I had no faith in it. I got the free NetSim for CCNA CD with my purchase of the Boson CCNA Study Guide. My past experience with simulators gave me little hope that this would be any better.
When I first launched it I explored the labs. Even though what WAS available for the CCENT was enough to get the CCENT, I wanted all the labs unlocked. So I paid up to unlock all the labs. I was not disappointed. This is the only lab I have been excited to use! I have yet to see any configuration scenario for certification that's not in here.
On a side note - when I purchased the CCNA to CCNP upgrade, I accidentally purchased the EXAM upgrade, not the Simulator upgrade. I didn't realize that and opened a ticket to find out why my keys wouldn't activate. The support folks answered the ticket within a few hours and explained to me why my EXAM licence keys didn't work on the simulator. So I called (They answered right away) and asked them to take the EXAMs back and get me the Simulator instead. They took care of it right then and there on the phone. They didn't hang up until I got my new key in email. Great support.
NetSim 10 CCNP 7/9/2015 11:15:22 PM - Jesse - Oklahoma City, OK US This product is very, very helpful an as other people have mentioned it does save on purchasing hardware. I have been using Boson for almost 10 years and have been satisfied thoroughly. Wonderful product and lessons!!! Also when creating help tickets everyone is so nice, professional and courteous.
Nice material 4/1/2015 5:29:48 AM - Xianfeng - Westmead, AU it is really useful Boson NetSim for CCNP 8.0 3/15/2015 1:58:14 PM - Anthony - Peabody, MA US Netsim is a very useful Study tool What I love about Netsim is the ability to build a lab with a dozen of devices and not use all the RAM in my machine and consume all my processing resources like I do in GNS3. What I don't like about Netsim is the older labs are not rewritten, just included in the new version for the full price for the new labs. I don't like the fact that the IOS available for the devices is partial and not complete.
If I wanted to play around and build my own lab and go beyond the scope of the lessons, I'm limited with the number of commands. GNS3 allows me to run an IOS and use the complete command structure.
The difference in Netsim 8 for CCNP and Netsim 10 for CCNP is 33 labs. For the upgrade price it's borderline worth it, but not for the full price. The difference in Netsim 8 for CCNA and Netsim 10 for CCNA is 11 labs, same point here.
If Netsim was more competitive with the competition they would do so much better. GNS3 is free and if you don't have access to IOS images you can download them for free. Needless to say, because I can use Netsim to drill structured labs over and over again I will be purchasing an upgrade to Netsim 10. If you have used this product, you can on your account page.
